The business management and administration pathway prepares learners for careers in planning, organizing, directing and evaluation business functions essential to efficient and productive companies. Students in this pathway use technology to perform and coordinate the administrative activities of an office and to ensure that information is collected and disseminated to staff and clients. In addition, students learn ethics and law to enable them to be successful in the workplace or as an entrepreneur.
Students will explore legal rules and principles governing contracts, civilu issues, criminal conduct, the job application process, business skills and commitment necessary to operate an entrepreneurial venture. Students will develop skills in using business software, specifically the Microsoft Office Suite—Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher used in professional communications. Students will develop an understanding of the role of entrepreneurial businesses in the United States and the impact on the national and global business.
