Program Rationale:

With the continuous need of skilled and knowledgeable employees in the IT industry, this pathway will help provide employees that are trained and work ready. Students will be provided with the opportunities to be in an industry setting while learning the trade and becoming work ready for successful transition into a future career or continuing their education.

Program Description:

Information Technology students learn to install, configure, secure, and troubleshoot computer hardware, operating systems, network devices and application software on a variety of stand-alone and networked computers.

Each course is designed to prepare students for a specific industry certification exam. Examples of these certifications include Cisco Certified Entry Network Associate (CCENT), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNAS), and CompTIA IT Fundamentals and CompTIA A+.

Course Information

Length

Each course is one semester for 2-4 semesters

Certifications

  • CompTIA IT Fundamentals Certification
  • Cisco Certified Entry Network Associate (CCENT)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • CompTIA A+ Computer Repair Certification
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNAS)

Criterion to be considered for admission include

EXPLORE test taken as an 8th grader or Asset, Compass, or ACT Test; 2.0 grade point average; 10 absences or less; behavior record, and recommendations

Entry Level Salary

$12 – 25 per hour depending on skill set and experience
